When I think of ‘netiquette immediately I think of creating an atmosphere of digital citizenship. It is really important for our students to understand and appreciate proper manners on the internet.
Every year when the form one students receive their laptops, we conduct a short session with both parents and students and one of the presentations is on netiquette (see PowerPoint presentation)
Netiquette2014pfws.pdf
Some additional Points that I would share with my students are:
BE HUMAN….
• Do not be impersonal
• Treat others with courtesy and respect as if they are physically in front of you
• Golden Rule – treat others as you want to be treated.
BE ON POINT…
• Do not babble, aim to stick to the point especially if it is an email being sent. Sometimes information is lost when someone has to read a lot to get the point of the matter
THE CONTENTS
• Check over grammar and spelling.
• Be cautious, think and re read before submitting, remember what is posted or sent is public information
• PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT (like I just did) when you are writing. Only use all capitals for emphasis.

This lesson below includes the use of web 2.0 tools. I do believe that it is a work in progress lesson, however with further research, I would be able to use more tools that are relevant and practical to the students. The aim in this lesson is to get the students totally involved in their learning.

Each group would be given a
mystery factor that affects Consumer behaviour. They are to find pictures
(online) that pertain to the factor and create a photo story, using appropriate
background music.
Groups then are to present their
photostories. The other members of the class state which factor is being
depicted in the photostory.

Teacher to give
feedback on group presentation.
Students summarize what
they learnt.
Home Assignment:
Students are to make a comment on someone else’s blog post, Indicating if they had similar experiences with their simulated activity. They are also to state whether their thoughts on changes in consumer behaviour within recent times are similar or different to that of another student.
